Biography

Jess Bartlet is an accomplished and adept songwriter, music producer, and mix-engineer experienced in Logic and Ableton, that works out of Strongroom Studio, Ten87 and Orbb in London. Jess writes and produces music across several genres in both the live and electronic spaces. She started out as an artist and occasionally releases as: Island Fox.
Jess is a self-taught producer/engineer and has been developing her engineering experience, first by becoming the recipient of MathWorks! Audio Engineering Society fellowship bursary. Jess is an active member of 2% rising, Red Bull's Normal Not Novelty (NNN) engineering and production initiative, as well as the TCC. It was at NNN that Jess met producer/mixer Marta Salogni and learned how to mix from her. In 2026 Jess won a prestigious ReBalance scholarship to learn from Jon Castelli in Mix with the Masters.
Jess was also a PRS ReBalance producer/engineer with otta at Leeds in 2020, Old Chapel studios. She has also assisted on studio engineering sessions at The Church Studios for Charlotte Day Wilson and Mumford & Sons. To develop her writing skills and lyricism Jess studied poetry and creative writing at the Faber Academy and "School of Death" at the Warman School for 12 weeks. In 2026 Jess was a particpant in Adrienne Lenker's School of Song programme.
When she is not making music Jess can be found giving educational talks such as her sold out workshop on "Data Sonification " from the ARTS Council funded "We Move" series with Music Hackspace.
